Krakow Balloon Fiesta "Unplugged"
October 17-19, 2024

 

The Krakow Unplugged Balloon Fiesta took place on the dates given - although there was a high probability that the date of the event would extend to 20.10. because the FIESTA formula is directly dependent on the weather. In the end, the sky over Krakow shimmered with balloons until Saturday 19.10.2024

The optimal conditions for balloon takeoff are:

*wnd speed 1-5 m/s
*no precipitation
*good visibility
*stable air currents and pressure
*moderate, cooler temperatures

The fiesta schedule was moveable due to its dependence on weather conditions.

Krakow Balloon Fiesta "Unplugged"

The meeting of 15 balloon teams was held under a unique formula in the world. We flew without the support of electronic navigation, but only using a map and the skills of the pilot. Exactly as it was done years ago. Teams landed at designated points in the center of Krakow. These points were determined at the last minute - everything depended on weather conditions.

HERE WE PRESENT THE PLAN THAT EVERYONE WAS OBEYING AT THE SAME BEGINNING - which, in the end, differed slightly from the first assumptions.

Here we will take a little leap into the past and provide the content that was in effect on the days of the competition

THE ORIGINAL TERMS OF THE FLIGHT LOOKED AS:

 

 

The competition will start (and end) from the largest 48-hectare meadow located in the center of our city, i.e. Blonia.
The first two days are mainly focused on organizational matters, getting the teams acquainted and registration. The first competition flights will also take place.

A dozen colorful balloons flying over the capital of Malopolska will be an interesting spectacle for tourists and residents of Cracow.

Flight Schedule:

• October 17 (Thursday) at 16:00 - Training Flight
• October 18 (Friday) at 06:00 - Competitive Flight
• October 18 (Friday) at 16:00 - Competitive Flight
• October 19 (Saturday) at 06:00 - Competitive Flight
• October 19 (Saturday) at 16:00 - Tethered Flights
• October 20 (Sunday) at 06:00 - Reserve Date*
  
  *The reserve date is in case a flight cannot take place on one of the earlier dates.

 

 

Tethered flights (secured by ropes) are primarily aimed at spectators. We invite everyone interested in joining the fun on Saturday, October 19th. (Information about tethered flights will be available on-site.)
